Do you retain fluffy pink (or blue) ideas of the joy of motherhood? This book soon puts stark reality to the fore! Beautifully expressed, poetic at times, reflective but never glamourised, various aspects of the sharp pains of motherhood are sympathetically exposed. This book is not telling the story of privilege, it is more of the harder edge of life, closer to the realities of hard economic times but with love.Product details

The gift of creating images with the written word! Also showed a deep and dark side, with purposeful use of the adjective.
I read this book last night. Brilliant work, left me with vivid images and regenerated memories of childhood in the 60's & 70's. I look forward to reading more - even the characters have me wanting to know them better. Congratulations to the author, I think she has a bright future ahead. Debbie.
This new writer on the Melbourne landscape has a natural grasp of using language to create pictures. Sue Oaks captures authentic experiences of motherhood both joyful, humorous and dark in her eloquent collection of stories on a subject close to so many of us.
Looking forward to her next book coming soon.
